The Cage Is Looking For A Bird
“The Cage Is Looking For A Bird” is a series of images taken in Hong Kong from 2022 to 2023. As a metropolis, Hong Kong’s pace of life is neck-breaking compared to other parts of the world. City dwellers work tirelessly from dawn to dusk, competing in a breathless and endless marathon while living costs and the wealth gap have been expanding continuously. All that hard work has never led to improved living standards. With the unstable political situation, many small and large businesses closed down, and international companies withdrew investments, leaving many Hong Kong residents unemployed. However, the hardships Hong Kong people face cannot be resolved by money alone. "The Cage Is Looking For A Bird" explores and depicts the urban populace, especially the middle class, in their food, drink, sexuality, and worldview. What do we seek? What do we need? Where do we go? What does that mean for us?
